Tradition and innovation since 1974

Founded in 1974 by Dr. Friedrich von Stutterheim and Dr. Jörg Wurm, the company was initially based in Oberursel near Frankfurt am Main before relocating to Usingen in the Taunus region in 1989.

Today, METAKEM produces dimensionally stable anodes, special anodes and reference electrodes for cathodic corrosion protection. The repair and recoating of used anodes are part of the electrochemistry division’s service offerings.

The future focus lies in expanding the product range for electroplating, increased research & development activities in the field of electrochemistry, as well as further expansion of the international distribution network to meet customer needs competently and promptly on-site.

METAKEM is also a renowned manufacturer of high-purity precious metal compounds and galvanic baths based on gold, platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, and iridium for decorative and technical applications. The processing and recycling of precious metals complete the activities in precious metal chemistry.

METAKEM GmbH specialises in electrochemical solutions and offers a comprehensive range of dimensionally stable anodes for a wide variety of applications. Our galvanic anodes made of platinised or mixed oxide-activated titanium and niobium guarantee maximum efficiency, corrosion resistance and a long service life. Whether for electroplating, cathodic corrosion protection or other electrochemical processes – our anode solutions ensure even current distribution and optimum performance of your electroplating systems.

Research & Development

Together with our partner companies, we have been researching in the field of electrochemistry and the production of special anodes for years. The “anode with shielding” developed in this process consists of a base material, an active layer, and the shielding. This positively influences the processes at the anode and reduces the consumption of the additive.
