METAKEM and Ökoprofit

Since 2011, we have been involved with Ökoprofit, a project that combines ecological responsibility with economic profit. The goal is to protect the environment and reduce costs through practical measures. With the expert support of external consultants, participating companies develop tailored solutions based on a comprehensive inventory.

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, we were honored along with other local companies for our commitment at the Oberursel City Hall. This recognition is evidence of our continuous efforts in the field of environmental protection and sustainability. The ceremonial event provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate our achievements and exchange ideas with other companies.

What is Ökoprofit?

Ökoprofit is an ecological project for integrated environmental technology that originated in Graz. It connects cities and districts with local companies to address ecological issues. The aim is to implement environmental protection measures that simultaneously bring economic benefits. This is achieved through joint workshops and individual environmental consulting.

Ökoprofit in Bad Homburg and Hochtaunus

In 2004, the city of Bad Homburg initiated the Ökoprofit project, which, due to its success, was continued in cooperation with the cities of Friedrichsdorf, Kronberg, and Oberursel. Meanwhile, the project also includes the city of Usingen and is continued under the name “Ökoprofit Hochtaunus”. New in the current round is the city of Karben.
The project is realized through the provision of financial resources and the commissioning of the environmental consulting company Arqum. So far, over 40 companies from Bad Homburg and the region have participated, in addition to an Ökoprofit club round with 17 participating companies. The achieved savings in energy consumption and resource use are considerable, as are the financial benefits. Due to this success, a new project is carried out every year.
